Since 2019 The Fresh Air Fund (FAF) and Hudson Highlands Land Trust (HHLT) have collaborated on this jointly held internship program. 
Position Summary 
Land Management Interns focus on invasive species management and habitat restoration working at both Sharpe Reservation and Granite Mountain. Interns will perform invasive species inventories, assessment, monitoring, and control at The Sharpe Reservation and HHLT’s properties. Under the supervision of both the HHLT, Preserve Manager and Ecological Restoration Specialist and The Sharpe Reservation Program Coordinator, intern(s) will assist in managing the diverse natural systems on the properties, including: controlling and removing invasive plant species in target areas; monitoring wildlife populations of invasive pests of hemlocks and ash trees; completing assessments of specified areas; assistance in the creation of an Invasive Species Management Plan at The Sharpe Reservation; creation of educational outreach videos and materials. Interns will also help lead educational hikes and volunteer days, while also working remotely with a team of interns at the Vassar Ecological Preserve and the Louis Calder Center. 
   
Interns will receive hands-on experience in natural areas management to further the development of the intern(s) toward their professional trajectory. This position is designed to ground the individual with professional skill sets related to ecological land management while improving ecosystem health in the Hudson Valley.  
This is an in-person residential position based at The Sharpe Reservation in Fishkill, NY. This role reports to the HHLT, Preserve Manager and Ecological Restoration Specialist and The Sharpe Reservation Program Coordinator. 
Responsibilities

<li>Implement the Invasive Species management plan for The Sharpe Reservation. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Survey, monitor, and manage invasive species, both terrestrial and aquatic. </li>
<li>Utilize GIS to map the current range and distribution of invasive species throughout Sharpe Reservation, as well as detect possible pathways of invasion. </li>
<li>Identify and remove invasive species (based on target species or geographies) at Sharpe Reservation and HHLT’s Preserves. </li>
<li>Monitor plots throughout the properties, such as ash plots, hemlock woody adelgid plots, spotted lantern fly plots, and beech leaf disease plots. </li>
<li>Lead volunteer groups on invasive species removal projects. </li>
<li>Lead public hikes focused on invasive species and the natural world. </li>
<li>Participate in trail work and the monitoring/management of invasive species along respective trails. </li>
<li>Create an interpretive brochure, signage, videos, and social media related to invasive species – their impact on habitat, management, and the like. </li>
<li>Update iMapInvasives entries for HHLT’s Preserves. </li>
<li>Other responsibilities and duties as assigned. </li>

Desired Skills and Experience

Overview
Serves as Medical Radiation Physicist in the Cancer Centers of Northern Arizona Healthcare's two cancer centers. Involved in both clinical and machine physics, serving as directed in the leadership, development, implementation and technical aspects of the Radiation Oncology programs. The Medical Radiation Physicist works under the direction of and is supervised by the Chief Medical Radiation Physicist, the Radiation Oncologist(s) and the Department Director performing physics service in accordance with the American College of Radiology Standards of practices as required by regulatory agencies and may work collaboratively with other department's medical physicists to address common programmatic needs. 
Responsibilities
Clinical* In conjunction with the Chief Medical Radiation Physicist and the Radiation Oncologist, assists with the physics needs for the Brachytherapy program; including High Dose Rate (HDR) and Low Dose Rate (seed implant). * Assists with oversight of the treatment planning program. * May direct Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy IMRT) treatment planning and program operations, as directed or delegated. * In collaboration with the Radiation Oncologist(s), assists with the Stereotactic RadioSurgery program (SRS) and directs the Stereotactic Brain Radiotherapy Program (SBRT). * Participates in the Cancer Center's quality assurance program. * May directs proficiency testing of radiation oncology equipment for acceptance and on a periodic basis. * Performs chart reviews and therapy calculations, dosimetry assistance and facilitates treatment plan development and reviews, as delegated.Administrative* Assists with the Radiation Safety Program in the cancer centers. * May supervise or work collaboratively with the Lead Dosimetrist, Staff Dosimetrists, Lead Radiation Therapist and Staff Therapists. * May coordinate or provide direction to the BioMedical Technologist assigned to Radiation Oncology. * Provides interface with the Arizona Department of Radiation Protection, maintains licensure for the facilities, and serves as primary liaison with other state and federal regulatory agencies for Radiation Oncology, as delegated or directed. * Coordinates, as directed, with the designated Radiation Safety Officer for Flagstaff Medical Center and Verde Valley Medical Center on radiation licensure, radiation exposure monitoring and reporting.Technical* Assists with Radiation Safety Compliance and reporting. * Competent in three dimensional treatment planning. * Competent in brachytherapy treatment planning, including HDR and seed implants. * Knowledge of calibration of Linear Accelerators and other radiation sources. * Expert in clinical dosimetry and treatment planning for external beams and implant sources, patient set-up and computerized treatment planning.Compliance/Safety* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner. * Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility. * If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates. * Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
