Duties/Skills include but not limited to:

2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Connecting our residents to services is a primary duty of the RSC. This includes intake, education (services available and application procedures), and referrals to service providers in the general community. Some examples of service topics are home management support, financial assistance, counseling (mental health and substance use disorders), insurance, access to public benefits and food assistance.
3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The RSC establishes onsite wellness programs and events through relationships with community partners and/or utilizing the RSC programming budget. Topics can range from having celebrations that prevent isolation and build community to lectures on health topics and general wellbeing, such as fraud prevention or computer classes.
4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Advocate, organize, problem-solve to obtain results for residents.
5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Establish relationships with agencies and service providers in the community who will provide direct services to residents.

Corps/Department: Salvation Army, McKinnell House
Reports To: Program Manager
FLSA Status: On-Call; Non-Exempt
Scope of Position: The McKinnell House Resident Coordinator monitors the activities of the residents in the shelter; maintains security and safety of all residents in the shelter; and may provide para-professional counseling services to homeless families to assist in transitioning from homelessness to independent living.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalency, two (2) years of experience working with homeless populations, preferably in a residential or shelter establishment. 2. Knowledge of housekeeping equipment and household cleaners. 3. Ability to operate general office equipment including computers. 4. Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality requirements in the workplace. 5. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, and to work harmoniously with clients, visitors, officers, and other personnel. 6. Current CPR and first aid certification; acceptable criminal history records.
Essential Functions: 1. Oversees facilities ensuring that safety precautions are observed at all times; rotates facility security checks regularly with other staff members on assigned shifts. 2. Answers incoming calls; maintains communication logs. 3. Reinforces policies/expectations for clients living in the program’s community environment; communicates to parents child supervision expectations; provides parenting education and support; enforces Child Safety Program policies. 4. Completes and maintains facility incident reports, as directed. 5. Remains available to assist clients with questions and requests, and provides feedback to clinical staff on client progress plans. 6. Promotes self-sufficiency of residents by assisting clients with job searches as requested; oversees clients in accomplishing house duties, provides necessary supplies, and checks that tasks have been completed. 7. Maintains competency by attending meetings, trainings, and classes as required. 8. Conducts preliminary intakes during the evening, night, and weekend shifts, as directed. 9. Work Environment: Work is performed in a heated and ventilated institution setting. Noise level is low. Exposure to extreme temperatures is not a requirement of this position. The use of personal protective equipment may be required in accordance with the Hazard Communication Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS:

What You'll Do:
<ul>
<li> Assists in planning daily meaningful day activities</li>
<li>Counsels' clients in identifying and resolving social or other problems</li>
<li>Compiles records of daily activities of client</li>
<li>Writes and submits incident reports as needed</li>
<li>Monitors and maintains client records</li>
<li>Supervises group-sponsored trips and social functions</li>
<li>Escorts individuals on trips outside establishment for recreational activities</li>
<li>Transports individual in personal vehicle</li>
<li>Ensures compliance with COMAR, MHP and company regulations</li>
<li>Implement Individualized Plan goals and outcomes</li>
<li>Updates client goals, contact notes accurately and in a timely manner; completing all required documentation to maintain accuracy of client records</li>
<li>Accompanies or transports consumers in the assigned program to and from day program and to all activities including work; modifies day program activities to accommodate consumer’s needs; and monitors consumer’s progress toward goals</li>
<li>Depending on assignment, monitors, corrects, and instructs consumer’s behavior, de-escalates anger and frustration, assists consumer in conflict resolution from harming self or others; keeps consumer attention focused on activities or work duties</li>
<li>Maintains daily communication with house staff, usually through written progress reports; and meeting with staff one time per week; maintains consumer’s chart</li>
<li>Models' appropriate behavior for consumer; demonstrates and discusses behavior, reactions, and feelings to assist consumer in proper work and/or social behavior</li>
<li>Depending on assignment may supervise consumer at a job site on Rock Creek contracts or outside premises; instructs and encourages consumer</li>
<li>Assists consumer in planning and adapting materials and activities to enhance their day; ensures consumer’s safety and to ensure least restrictive environment and maximum participation</li>
<li>Participates in department staff meetings; provides information regarding consumer</li>
<li>Attends mandatory meetings</li>

The Habilitation Specialist (DSP), is responsible for assisting the people we support, while following established treatment plans. QSAC’s Residential program emphasizes the importance of promoting independence through the development of daily living/social skills and integration into the community through recreational outings. You will abide by the Direct Support Professional Code of Ethics at all times.
Shift Information: Flexible Schedule - Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings, Overnights - Weekdays and/or Weekends. May be required to assist with overnight outings.
