PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:&nbsp; The Extension Assistant in the Kentucky State University (KSU) Land Grant Program and College of Agriculture, Community and the Sciences will assist fulfilling the objectives of the Capacity Building Grant entitled Enhancing Agriculture and Educational Opportunities for Youth and Teachers in Kentucky. The successful candidate will assist with the development, organization, and conducting of educational workshops for students and teachers in areas of environmental education and natural resource conservation and assist with developing and maintaining educational facilities.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:&nbsp;The Extension Assistant will support existing Research and Cooperative Extension programming and collaborate with program staff to fulfill the objectives of the Capacity Building Grant titled Enhancing Agriculture and Educational Opportunities for Youth and teachers in Kentucky.
The goals of the grantare to: 1) provide hands-on demonstration opportunities that exposes students to state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge technology; 2) create an ADA-compliant braille trail at the Environmental Education and Research Center (EERC) that will provide unique learning opportunities to individuals with physical impairments or developmental disabilities; 3) create hands-on professional development opportunities for teachers in both agriculture and environmental science; 4) inform students of post-secondary educational opportunities in the College of Agriculture, Communities, and the Environment at KSU. This position will address these goals through scheduling and conducting Agricultural and Environmental Education programs, creating and maintaining an educational laboratory space for the project, and assisting in maintenance and programing of the Braille Trail that has already been completed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Extension Assistant will serve as a contact for programs and activities including Environmental Education Programs for students and educators

OPEN RANK, TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION IN INTEGRATED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for the position of Associate Professor of African American and African Diasporic Literature with tenure, to begin August 2024. Applicants with research and teaching interests&nbsp;in any aspects of the production and consumption of African American and African Diasporic literary and popular culture with interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches are welcome. We seek an associate professor with a demonstrated record of excellence in scholarship and teaching related to the field of Africana Studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to and record of advocacy on behalf of the field, and who has leadership potential to assume the headship of the department within a couple of years. Preference will also be given to candidates who understand the historic and contemporary Black experience in America and the African Diaspora and are well-versed in critical race studies to provide intellectual and administrative leadership to our interdisciplinary program. Candidates should also have demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive excellence. A Ph.D. in African American Literature and African Diasporic Literature or a closely related field is required, and additional expertise in African American and African Diasporic literature, media, and/or visual culture is preferred. Preference is given to scholars whose scholarship focuses on the explorations of African American and African Diasporic literary and cultural practices, historic and contemporary social justice movements, racial (in)justice, structural inequality, and intersectionality through comparative and transnational lenses. The position is fully located in the Africana Studies Department, with the possibility of teaching courses cross-listed with the English Department and other campus units. Associate Professor of African American and African Diasporic Literature

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures seeks to hire a tenure-track professor of French and Francophone literatures and cultures specializing in any of the periods prior to the nineteenth century, from the Middle Ages to the aftermath of the French Revolution. We are looking for a scholar who envisions their research within a capacious conception of the spaces, texts, and times involved in pre-1800 French and Francophone studies. We are especially interested in approaches that place literature and cultural expressions in conversation with interdisciplinary fields such as gender and sexuality studies, decolonial studies, and the environmental humanities. Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching is crucial, as is the ability to capture the interest of a diverse student body.&nbsp;
The Department will consider candidates with a PhD from disciplines other than French Studies, but fluency in French is required. Doctorate required by the time the appointment begins on July 1, 2024. The tenure-track professor will be responsible for teaching four courses a year and supervising theses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
