Education Policy & Research Specialist

The Education Policy & Research Specialist plays a critical role in advancing the mission of the association by conducting research, analyzing education policies, and providing actionable insights that shape policy positions and support members. This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of education systems, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to influence positive change in public education.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Policy Analysis & Development
  • Review and analyze existing education policies to assess effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Research and recommend new policies addressing current issues or gaps in the educational system.
  • Monitor the impact of implemented policies and provide recommendations for adjustments.
  • Stay current with changes in education law, regulations, and emerging trends.
  • Research & Reporting
  • Conduct research on student performance, teaching methods, administrative strategies, and other key aspects of education.
  • Maintain and develop longitudinal research conducted by the association.
  • Monitor, research, and report on current issues surrounding public education.
  • Develop background information and position papers on identified association issues.

Collaboration & Advocacy

  • Collaborate with education entities, policymakers, and members to research and develop insights that shape future policy positions.
  • Establish and strengthen partnerships with diverse stakeholders, organizations, members, and educational agencies.
  • Present research findings and policy recommendations at KASB programs and events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Policy, Research, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Strong analytical and research skills with experience in policy development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of education law, regulations, and public education systems.
