Job Summary:

Responsible for the overall financial impact of Telematics and Infotainment subsystems within a larger scale project. Expert in all engineering processes and responsible for their effective application, improvement, and mentoring less experienced engineers on the effective use of the processes. Champions development/communication/employment of engineering “best practices” - drives effort to "make things better".

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Primary contact within engineering to interact with customers to define the engineering scope for telematics, infotainment technology and screens.
  • Collaborate the definition of Connectivity Systems architecture and interfaces between connectivity products, vehicle platforms, projects, and applications.
  • Leads product development and release process development through new hire training, lunch and learns, and one on one development.
  • Work with the telematics, infotainment and Product teams to define digital solutions which integrate into the existing and future vehicle architectures and consider long term business goals.
  • Mentors lead engineers.
  • Coach/mentor other functions to improve project execution.
  • Drives communication across departments and outside the company.
  • Regular communication across industry with responsibility for representing Club Cars interests.
  • Makes strategic technical decisions that consider long term business goals.
  • Scope of decisions covers all active projects.
  • Insures appropriate level of “engineering” is applied to problem solving.
  • Assesses impact of risks across project and product lines; facilitates/champions risk assessment “best practices”.
  • Frequently requested to give technical assessments of situations outside normal scope of influence.
  • Responsible for the development of project timelines, engineering resource requirements, and expenditure estimates for AOP.
  • Responsible for leading large complete system projects having strategic platform impact.
  • Informal delegation of minor tasks to individuals in functional departments.
  • Drives application of advanced engineering concepts.
  • Ensures long-term direction for capability matrix training aligns with LRP.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains safe and productive work environment by assuring the work area is clear of tools, brooms, debris, and other items that may present a hazard.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:

  • BS in engineering field or other technical degree (ex: computer science, chemistry, physics, metallurgy, etc.)

Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated mastery of infotainment screens and telematics ecosystems.
  • Experience with digital and analog electronic circuit design, electronic systems, as well as embedded software development.
  • Experience with power systems and/or mixed signal design a plus.
  • Understanding of RF (Radio Frequency) electronics.
  • Experience with communication protocols: CAN, TCP/IP, USB, Bluetooth, Cellular and/or Wi-Fi.
  • Design and analysis experience with high-speed digital systems, including multi-gigabit transceivers.
  • Familiar with best design practices for safety, EMC and compliance agency approvals, FCC, CE etc.
  • Self-Directed.
  • Job-related decisions are made independently and communicated to the manager as required.
  • Ability to keep a "calm head" in tough situations.
  • Able to independently lead external resources including seeking new relationships, scoping work, negotiating contracts, ensuring accountability, quality of deliverables, etc.
  • Identify capability gaps and lead capability projects to improve project execution.
  • Able to integrate outside resources into the team.
  • Strong technical understanding of all vehicle systems, system interactions, and vehicle level requirements.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve engineering capabilities and leads.
  • Owns the development and documentation of vehicle level requirements and specifications.
  • Process owner for the cascade of vehicle level requirements and specifications to all systems, subsystems, and components in the vehicle and responsible for the execution for this cascade within projects.
  • Broad range knowledge in multiple subject matters.
