Job Description
Job DescriptionChemists are responsible for conducting a variety of analytical tests on cannabis samples, interpreting results, and ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of testing procedures in an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory.
• Perform routine laboratory tests on cannabis samples, including potency analysis, pesticide screening, residual solvent analysis, microbial testing, and heavy metal analysis.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test methods to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with ISO 17025 standards and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare reagents, standards, and samples for analysis, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, troubleshoot technical issues, and perform routine maintenance and calibration procedures.
• Document test results, observations, and deviations accurately and promptly in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems.
• Assist with data analysis, quality control checks, and method validation studies as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot problems, optimize processes, and improve laboratory efficiency.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols, including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Requirements• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
• Prior laboratory experience or coursework in analytical chemistry is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow instructions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
