CLX Engineering is looking for an Integration Engineer III who loves taking full ownership of a project—start to finish, concept to commissioning. In this role, you won’t just build systems; you’ll design them, develop them, test them, implement them, and make sure they run smoothly long after go-live.
If you have hands-on experience working with conveyor controls or related technologies—like EDS machines, scanning arrays, or vision systems—you’ll fit right in. What you will do:
- Be the on-site CLX representative and technical expert, providing daily status updates and collaborating with team to overcome roadblocks.
- Support project proposals and estimation efforts.
- Will often serve as the first point of contact for the project and technical inquiries.
- Maintain, modify &/or develop PLC code using CLX and industry standards most commonly with RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000 and CCW (Connected Components Workbench). Must be able to write structured, well-documented, bug-free PLC code in Allen Bradley platforms.
- Configure, integrate and or migrate networks with Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet and ControlNet among others. To include communications with VFDs, HMIs, and SCADA systems as well as third party machine interfaces.
- Proficiency with Ignition software.
- Design, program, and commission industrial projects using both legacy and modern technologies with an international airport passenger boarding bridge or in baggage handling areas.
- Utilize ACAD drafting software, adhere to applicable codes and standards, and employ efficient design practices.
- Supervise installation and troubleshoot projects to ensure functionality and customer satisfaction.
- Design control systems through customer-supplied control descriptions, client interviews, and system mechanical requirement analysis.
- Design intuitive, easy-to-navigate, aesthetically pleasing HMI interfaces.
- Collaborate with project team members to share programming responsibilities as needed.
- Design software for thorough, systematic in-house testing prior to on-site commissioning.
- Thoroughly test system software before client exposure.
- Provide on-site system commissioning support, potentially requiring overtime or off-hours work.
- Supervise both CLX Engineering and vendor personnel.
- This position will consistently work night shifts, travel on occasion to the Florida home office, or to a domestic airport.
- Create well documented submittals to include Test plans, Work plans, DOO’s (Description of Operation) and or provide thorough technical reviews of these documents.
- Physical demands for typical airport environments will include stairs, climbing ship ladders, navigating low hanging obstacles, operating in low light, enduring varying temperatures, and occasionally maneuvering through confined spaces to perform commissioning or testing tasks. Lifting up to 50lbs may be required to accommodate testing with live test bags.
- Ability to stand and work remotely around live systems or sit and monitor systems for long periods of time.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the project manager.
- On-call service/support for existing installations on a rotating schedule.
- Collaborate with shipping and logistics teams to ensure material deliveries are on time and accurate.
This is a salaried exempt position reporting into the Controls Engineering department.

Requirements:
Required Skills & Qualifications- What You Bring:
- At least 4+ years of applied experience coding programmable logic controllers in relevant software (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.)
- Experience working on systems with high pressure expectations for live operations in industrial environments after each shift.
- Excellent electrical understanding and a strong proficiency in understanding electrical schematics.
- Ability to interpret testing specifications and create and follow test plans to meet TSA requirements.
- Ability to quickly understand complex applications.
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Advanced PLC programming skills in all IEC standard programming languages
- Thorough understanding of multiple HMI software platforms including Factory Talk View (preferred), Wonderware, Ignition or GE Proficy
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Creating standard operating procedures, checklists, daily status updates, etc.
- Supervisory, coordination, project management, and collaboration skills developed working with clients, vendors, other trades and customers in demanding environments.
- Must be willing to travel by plane and or vehicles, at times with little notice.
- Must be able to pass TSA SIDA training and TSA background check for secure area access.
