Overview
We are seeking a versatile Field Services Technician who combines Tier 1/2 IT support skills with strong hands-on experience in structured cabling and onsite technology installations. This role involves a mix of technical troubleshooting, physical installation work, and customer-facing service across New York City and the greater NYC metropolitan area.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cable runs (Cat6, coax, snake cable) including punch-downs, keystone terminations, patch panels, toning, and labeling.
- Terminate and test Cat6 cabling; fiber termination experience is a strong plus.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Handle onsite hardware tasks such as device setup, office reconfigurations, and equipment relocations.
- Mount and install office and AV equipment (TVs, cameras, speakers, etc.).
- Provide support for copier/printer installation and troubleshooting.
- Deliver desktop and end-user support including hardware issues, printer/copier setup, and basic Microsoft 365 troubleshooting.
- Ensure professional, timely customer service during onsite visits in NYC and regional client sites.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or field services role.
- Proven ability in structured cabling installation, termination, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with network equipment installation and configuration.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for desktop hardware, networking, and peripherals.
- Basic Microsoft 365 administration ability (account setup, password resets, Outlook issues).
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and maintain high attention to detail.
- Physically capable of lifting 50+ pounds, working on ladders, and performing manual installation work.
- Ability to travel throughout New York City and the greater NYC metropolitan area for onsite assignments.
- Valid driver’s license required for regional travel.
Preferred but not required
- Fiber termination experience.
- Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, BICSI, OSHA).
- Experience with AV system setup and troubleshooting.
