We are looking for an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to join a non-profit organization in Charleston, South Carolina. This role focuses on providing legal assistance to underserved individuals, emphasizing housing law, family law, and veterans' benefits. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to social justice and a proven ability to navigate complex legal issues.


• Represent clients in tenant eviction cases, ensuring their rights are protected under housing law.

• Provide legal counsel and representation in family law matters, including child support disputes.

• Advocate for veterans seeking disability benefits and assist them with navigating related legal processes.

• Handle landlord-tenant disputes with a focus on fair housing law and equitable outcomes.

• Deliver legal aid to individuals experiencing homelessness and address related legal challenges.

• Ensure compliance with nonprofit grant requirements and related legal obligations.

• Draft legal documents, including briefs, motions, and agreements, tailored to clients' needs.

• Collaborate with community organizations to enhance access to legal resources for vulnerable populations.

• Stay updated on changes in housing, family, and veterans' law to provide informed counsel.

• Participate in outreach programs to educate the community on their legal rights.

• Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on housing, family, and veterans' law.
• Demonstrated expertise in handling eviction cases and landlord-tenant disputes.
• Strong knowledge of fair housing law and its application in legal proceedings.
• Proven ability to manage family law cases, including child support and custody matters.
• Experience advocating for veterans seeking disability benefits.
• Familiarity with nonprofit grant compliance and associated legal requirements.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
