Role Summary
The Research Technician I will engage in basic research functions, and facility and equipment maintenance while supporting the larger operations team in completing studies in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner.
Role Responsibilities
- Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of animal species.
- Perform animal observations to monitor and assess animal health and monitor the study.
- Collect and record data on paper and/or in an electronic laboratory information management system (LIMS) in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Introduction to data review for GLP compliance.
- Sample collection including, but not limited to, non-sterile scrub of collection sites, blood draws, and urine collections.
- Drug administration including, but not limited to, eye drops, tablets, subcutaneous injections, intramuscular injections, and drug calculations.
- Basic anesthesia monitoring including intubation/extubation and use of animal warming systems.
- May serve as a secondary Point Technician on a study.
- May assist with animal husbandry, including but not limited to cleaning, feeding, watering and enrichment as needed.
- Perform other training or duties as assigned.
Role Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Minimum 1 year experience required
- ALAT Certification Preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office core applications and the ability to learn and use additional applications

Special Requirements
- This role works predominately in a laboratory setting. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of and/or exposure to animal tissues and zoonotic organisms.
- Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 respirators.
- Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping/pinching, standing, and ascending a ladder without restriction.
- Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts with short notice.
