Lab Associate

The Lab Associate is responsible for performing various film testing for the lines. The successful Lab Associate Operator will demonstrate strong communication skills and a real commitment to their quality of work. With a key focus on safety, quality, and cleanliness.

Responsibilities:

  • This position is for a shift Laboratory Associate Technician
  • Safety and Environmental – Adhere to and promote all company safety and environmental requirements. We make the safety of ourselves, the safety of our coworkers, and the protection of our environment our personal responsibilities.
  • Perform film and Masterbatch testing as required
  • Assist in investigating product material discrepancies with emphasis on root cause identification and corrective action implementation
  • Support interpretation of non-routine analysis
  • Conduct calibrations on testing equipment
  • Conduct and enforce all job duties in accordance with the company’s published policies
  • Manage and prioritize the activities of on-site material analysis and testing
  • Provide internal and external customers with materials analysis and testing services and/or assist in developing testing programs
  • Manage all actions and activities to assure that the test requests are handled in an expeditious manner in order to meet customer demands and timelines
  • Train and complete lab benchmarks
  • Provide shift relief (vacation, leave of absence, etc.) of other Lab Associates.
  • Assist in maintaining AIB and BRC levels of housekeeping and recordkeeping for product safety
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • 3 years lab / quality experience preferred
  • Excellence in achieving results and has concern for standards
  • Basic computer and Microsoft software products skills
  • Must be able to work in a moderately heavy manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work on a 3-day rotating 12-hour shift (3 days on, 3 off, 3 nights on, 3 off, repeat) and overtime as required/scheduled
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Must be able to withstand continuous periods of moving, walking, bending, stooping, keeling, twisting motion, climbing, and descending stairs and ladders in an effort to perform most tasks.
  • Must be mentally sharp, have great attention-to-detail, and quick to respond to requests
  • Must have good written/verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with teams across departments
  • Must be able to perform basic math functions
  • Must understand basic computer skills and perform data entry tasks/requirements during each shift
  • Will be required to be to be fork truck and/or pallet jack trained.

Internal Requirements:

  • Employees in good standing with more than 90 days of service, are eligible to bid
  • No written for attendance or performance in the past twelve (12) months
  • Performance reviews / evaluations must be at or above an achieving level
  • Employees who recently promoted into their current position are not eligible to bid to another position for a period of 6-months
  • Lab Associate Operators interested in transferring to another plant, department or shift should contact their plant leader
  • Employees bidding on a promotional opportunity will be given point values based on their performance evaluations, and qualifications (Skillsets / Benchmarks). If qualifications are equal, seniority will be used
  • The employee who is awarded this position will be expected to complete a training period in which the employee will demonstrate their ability and initiative to learn different tasks through completing skill sets, practical walk throughs and testing. This is part of the qualification process
