Job Title: Repairs & Maintenance Lead
Reports To: General Manager & Director of Operations
Location: Wyoming Downs Racetrack — Evanston, WY
Employment Type: Full-Time / Year-Round
Position Summary
The Repairs & Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing and executing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and improvement projects across the Wyoming Downs property. This position ensures all systems — from technology and communications to facility operations are functioning safely, efficiently, and in support of both day-to-day operations and the live race meet. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong mechanical background, the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly, and the flexibility to take on diverse projects throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repair work across buildings, barns, paddocks, offices, and equipment.
• Handle small construction and improvement projects including framing, drywall, painting, plumbing, and electrical work as assigned.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and report repair needs to management.
• Run, terminate, and test CAT cabling for internet, network, and camera systems.
• Install and maintain Wi-Fi routers, modems, and junction boxes throughout the property.
• Maintain and troubleshoot the property’s security camera systems, ensuring continuous and reliable footage.
• Provide operational support during live race days, assisting with electrical systems, communications, and general maintenance needs.
• Work alongside the Racing Office, Maintenance Team, and Operations staff to ensure all areas are prepared for public and racing use.
• Collaborate with the General Manager and Director of Operations to plan and prioritize in-house projects.
• Coordinate with external vendors and contractors when necessary to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
• Maintain maintenance logs, supply inventories, and equipment service records.
Qualifications & Skills
• 3+ years of experience in facility maintenance, general construction, or related trades.
• Proficient with basic electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
• Knowledge of low-voltage systems, including security and networking equipment.
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required. Must meet insurance criteria to operate company equipment.
Must be willing to work additional hours during the summer race season.
