The Aerospace Masker/Painter is responsible for the meticulous preparation and painting of aircraft components to ensure a high-quality, durable finish that meets the customer’s requirements. This involves applying protective masking to prevent paint from getting on certain areas, cleaning and preparing surfaces, and using various painting techniques to apply advanced paint systems on machined parts.
Key responsibilities
- Masking: Applying and trimming protective materials like tape, caps, and shields to sensitive areas of a part to shield them from paint.
- Surface preparation: Cleaning parts using solvents or abrasive blasting; and ensuring they meet all surface finish requirements before painting.
- Painting: Applying various paint systems, which can include techniques like spray painting.
- Quality control: Performing visual inspections to ensure the quality of masking, painting coverage on parts, and checking for damage or errors.
