Job DescriptionDescriptionSummary: This position is located in Arizona. You will be required to visit retail vet locations in person. The Education Ambassador (Retail Education Specialist) is a key contributor to providing nutritional expertise and education seminars to our pet specialty retailer leadership partners and store staff for a science-based pet food brand. This position will require time in stores and attendance at district meetings to educate and engage store staff on the nutritional benefits of feeding and recommending the customer’s products to drive brand awareness and increase overall customer recommendation.
Key ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, and other duties as assigned: · Support pet specialty retail partners and develop relationships with KDMs (Key Decision Makers)· Participate in on-going training to gain a deep understanding of pet food nutrition and the features/benefits of represented products and tentpole campaigns.· Present Nutritional Seminars, host Lunch & Learns, and provide Recommendation Training to retail partners with major focus on Petco, PetSmart, and other pet specialty retailers.· Engage and maintain collaborative relationships with mid-level leadership at Petco and Petsmart on an ongoing basis.· Be the primary field support through virtual presentations, in person meetings, and via phone for District and Regional retailer leaders to assist in education of Store Leaders and their staff on how to approach and engage customers to recommend products.· Support and develop relationships with staff members to build trust and credibility of brand.· Present assigned nutritional topics to staff members using approved presentations, flyers, dry food bags, or other provided materials.· Perform role play scenarios with staff members to train them on how to approach and recommend products to their customers.· Collaborate on a regular basis with a cross-functional team that includes an education team, customer development teams, retail agency team, and retail partner leaders.· Maintain an effective level of literacy on all products that translate into being a nutritional expert.· Participate in creating engagement strategies that will increase seminar opportunities at District and Regional meetings.· Assist with retail and shelter Events if needed (ie staff training and customer engagement)· Provide educational support to current CLA team members as needed.
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseQualifications Required:· 1+ years of customer-facing experience presenting sales materials or training seminars.· Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or experience working in a Veterinary Clinic or 2+ years of vet field sales experience· Willingness to learn about pet food nutrition.· Ability to work a flexible work schedule depending on the needs of the retailer, which may include weekends or evenings.· Planning/organizing—the individual is a highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates effective time management skills and meeting planning.· Adaptability—the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and can deal with frequent change, ambiguity, or unexpected delays.· Oral communication—the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates strong group presentation skills and ability to conduct meetings.· Interpersonal Skills—the individual is professional and personable to be able to interact with CLA team, Brand Team, retail store associates, and shopping customers.· Written Communication—the individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively, and can read and interpret written information. Excellent proofreading skills a must.· Quality control—the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors their own work to ensure quality.· Fluency working with web-based technology platforms (basic tableau skills) and proficient knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint / Excel and Google Workspace skills required.· Dependability—the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.· Safety and security—the individual actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.· Strong technical skills with smartphone/tablet technology.· Ability to travel 50% of the time, with occasional overnight.
