Job Title: Microbiologist
Job Description
The microbiologist will document experiments in accordance with company policies, procedures, and protocols, demonstrating a working knowledge of microbiology tasks and the application of scientific principles and technologies. The role requires collaboration with a team to develop and implement microbiological test procedures that support drug substances, drug products, excipients, compounded sterile preparations, and microbiological sample testing.
Responsibilities
- Prepare solutions, samples, and standards for use in procedures and manage materials to prevent waste or loss.
- Meet requirements for annual gowning and aseptic handling certifications.
- Conduct sterility and endotoxin testing in the cleanroom.
- Perform environmental monitoring as needed.
- Maintain proper waste disposal handling and record keeping.
- Participate in the execution and optimization of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment and instrumentation per cGMPs.
- Analyze and interpret the outcome of experiments correctly.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in aseptic technique and microbiology.
- Experience in cleanroom procedures and environmental monitoring.
- Knowledge of sterility and endotoxin testing.
- Ability to work in a microbiology laboratory setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science/Biology.
- 0-1 year of cGMP laboratory or cleanroom experience.
- Familiarity with microbiological instrumentation theory and practice.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to learn, comprehend, and follow procedures in a cGMP environment.
Work Environment
The shift is from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon Hills, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
