At Epsilyte LLC, we are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our team at our Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment. To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess a strong technical background in process engineering, have experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, and be able to develop effective solutions for challenging problems. Experience in polymerization, wastewater treatment, and utilities operations is a plus. Additionally, the successful candidate must possess outstanding communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders. Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and safety
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, enhance yield, and increase operational efficiency
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues
  • Support capital projects, including process design, equipment selection, installation, and commissioning
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and company policies
  • Support Process Safety programs, including participation in Process Hazard Analyses, acting as an advocate for the integrity of our process safety protection layers
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in training plant personnel on processes and equipment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide off-hours support for abnormal and non-routine operations, including planned and unplanned plant outages
  • Other duties as assigned or interested


Requirements:


Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemical Engineering or related discipline or commensurate experience
  • 3-7 years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in EPS or polymer production.
  • Strong understanding of chemical processes, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and process control.
  • Experience in polymerization, wastewater treatment, and utilities operations is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to chemical manufacturing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with various departments
  • Ability to interface with 3rd party vendors
  • Proficiency in process modeling, statistical analysis, and Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies is highly desirable.

Reports To: Process and Controls Engineering Manager (located in Peru, IL)


Wage and Benefits Transparency:


The final base pay offer for this position will be determined by individual factors such as location, external market factors, internal equity, and the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position's expected salary range is $85,000 to $135,000 per year.


This role is eligible for benefits, annual bonuses, and profit-sharing.
