• Operating a cash register to accept payment for merchandise.

General Accountabilities

• Greeting customers.
• Operating cash register.
• Processing payments by cash, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
• Issuing change, receipts, refunds, or credits to customers.
• Counting money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
• Regularly monitoring for adequate change in the cash drawer.
• Calculates total payments received during a shift, and reconciles this with total sales.
• Assists customers by providing information and resolving their complaints.
• Maintains clean, hygienic and orderly checkout area.
• Some lifting.
• Required days Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
• Required for the holiday period, with potential for more permanence.

Skills

• Accurate basic mathematics.
• Knowledge of music and movie media (records/CDs/DVDs/Blu-Rays) and music genres a major plus.
