As a Contracts Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing contractual agreements and relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders in the defense and aerospace industry. You will ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, negotiate favorable terms, and mitigate risks associated with contractual obligations. Your responsibilities will involve working closely with various departments, including legal, procurement, and project management, to facilitate effective contract administration and execution.
Qualifications and Skills:
*Bachelor's degree in business administration, law, or a related field. A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree is highly desirable.
*Previous experience (5+ years preferred) in contracts management or a similar role within the defense and aerospace industry.
*Strong knowledge of defense and aerospace contracting regulations, such as the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
*Familiarity with contract management software and tools.
*Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
*Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
*Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple contracts concurrently.
*Understanding of technical and legal terminology relevant to the defense and aerospace industry.
*Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management: Review, analyze, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and other legal agreements related to defense and aerospace projects. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Identify and address contractual risks, liabilities, and obligations. Collaborate with legal counsel to resolve contractual disputes or issues.
Contract Administration: Develop and maintain contract templates, standard operating procedures, and documentation. Monitor contract performance, deliverables, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure contract requirements are met. Implement effective change management processes and assess the impact of contract modifications.
Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters with clients, suppliers, and internal teams. Facilitate clear and timely communication between parties involved in the contract. Provide guidance and support to project teams on contractual matters, including interpretation of terms and conditions.
Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks and liabilities associated with contracts and propose appropriate mitigation strategies. Monitor and report on contract performance, compliance, and financial implications. Conduct periodic contract audits to ensure adherence to terms, conditions, and regulatory requirements.
Compliance and Ethics: Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices pertaining to defense and aerospace contracts. Promote ethical behavior and adherence to company policies throughout the contract lifecycle. Ensure compliance with export control regulations, security clearances, and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements.
