Winter Season: starts December, 2025 and ends April, 2026
Kids Winter Recreation Counselor:
This full-time winter seasonal position will create and facilitate kids winter activities for all kids participating in Snow Sitters, Winter Camp Moonlight, Parents Night Out, and other family events. Counselors will be part of a program providing childcare, adventure, and learning in Montana’s fun and mountainous area!
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Create and maintain a safe, engaging environment for children ages 2 – 7 to play under supervision in a day care setting
- Design and implement lessons and games to engage with and learn about winter in Montana using provided resources
- Prepare crafts and activities for holidays/themed events to engage children and their families in a drop-in setting
- Responsible for safety and security of all kids participating in programs
- Responsible for daily setup and clean-up of programs
- For camp programming, independently lead or team teach activities focused on environmental education and outdoor recreation both indoors and outdoors for kids spanning ages 5-12
- Attend all required and necessary staff trainings and professional development events.
- Maintain relationships and communication with families, coworkers, and management staff

- Creates and plans crafts, games, and lessons to engage children of variety of ages with limited oversight, takes pride in programming and keeping spaces neat and welcoming
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in informal or experiential learning, daycare, or day camp
- Undergraduate degree preferred, in processing of earning, or combination of experience and education
- Enthusiasm for working with kids ages 2-12
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Current CPR/First Aid or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Available to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
- Commit to working the full winter season from December to the end of April. Training begins in early December
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position will be 80% indoors and 20% outdoors. Must be able to work in all-weather events specific to high mountain environments including, but not limited to, snow and cold, sun, wind, cloudy conditions.
Work hours will take place between 8am and 8pm with the occasional program requiring late evening and/or over-time hours. Programming and work duties will span all days of the week.
When in the office the work environment is characterized as that found in a typical office environment, with moderate temperatures and noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Position requires walking and moving around in snow; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 7 hours in length
- Must be able to carry a backpack with safety equipment, necessary gear, and teaching materials
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on a regular and continuous basis
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, running, and repetitive motions
