What a Day Looks Like
- Receive a horizontal or vertical pump, review schematics, and plan your approach.
- Use an overhead crane to position components safely, then methodically disassemble.
- Measure critical dimensions with micrometers, calipers, and gauges to assess wear.
- Repair or replace components, then reassemble with precision using manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools.
- Verify against standards—working within tight tolerances and accuracy benchmarks.
How You’ll Succeed
- You interpret blueprints and schematic drawings and can construct foundations/jigs for assembly and disassembly.
- You’re proficient with wrenches, impact guns, and a broad set of power/hand tools.
- You operate forklifts and overhead cranes confidently and safely.
- You communicate clearly in writing and speech.
- You bring manual dexterity, control precision, and strong deductive reasoning.
- You can lift up to 50 lbs and stay focused in a busy industrial shop.
Your Background
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 7+ years as a pump mechanic or closely related experience rebuilding large pumps and rotating equipment—from teardown and inspection to reassembly.
Tools, Tech, and Equipment You’ll Touch
- Manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools for shop work.
- Micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tooling (M&TE).
- Fork trucks and overhead cranes.
- Liquid Fill Pumps and Equipment.
Where You’ll Work
The environmental characteristic for this position is an industrial setting with large machinery, overhead cranes, trucks and forklifts. Candidates should be able to adapt to a traditional warehouse environment.
