We are seeking a compassionate, engaging Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide part-time, one-on-one support to a young adult male in his home and in the community. This role focuses on personal care, movement and wellness, seizure awareness and response, and meaningful community participation, with an emphasis on building relationships and belonging.
Schedule:
- 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Mondays and every other weekend
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) in a respectful, person-centered manner
- Support daily stretching and movement routines as directed
- Provide seizure care, including monitoring, following established protocols, and ensuring safety
- Engage actively with him throughout the day, not just during care tasks
- Accompany and support him in the community (errands, activities, social outings)
- Help build and strengthen community connections and natural supports
- Encourage independence, dignity, and choice
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with family regarding routines, health, and needs
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification a plus!
- Experience with seizure care or willingness to be trained
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle in good working order (required)
- Comfortable with supporting community-based activities
- Experience with in-home care or individuals with disabilities preferred
- Reliable, patient, engaging, and relationship-focused
