Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Organic Synthesis Research Chemist to join our advanced materials team focused on the development of next-generation energy storage materials, including organic electrode materials, redox-active molecules, and solid-state electrolytes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, or organoelectronic materials with a proven track record of innovation in battery or supercapacitor technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design and synthesize novel organic molecules or frameworks for use in batteries and capacitors
- Scale up synthetic procedures from milligram to gram level while maintaining purity and reproducibility
- Develop structure–property relationships for electrochemical performance (capacity, stability, conductivity)
- Collaborate closely with electrochemists, computational chemists, and materials engineers
- Maintain detailed lab records, data analysis, and present research findings in internal reports and publications
- Support IP generation, patent filing, and scientific publications
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals and adherence to lab safety protocols
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master’s in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, or related fields
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on industrial experience in organic synthesis, with at least 2 years in energy storage research (e.g., Li-ion, redox flow, organic batteries)
- Expertise in multistep synthesis, air-sensitive techniques, purification (chromatography including HPLC, Schlenk techniques), and characterization (NMR, GC/MS, LC/MS, IR, UV-Vis, TGA, XRD, SEM)
- Familiarity with electrochemical characterization methods (CV, EIS, charge–discharge) is a plus
- Experience working in a cross-disciplinary R&D environment
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills
- Self-driven, team-oriented, and scientifically curious
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of COFs, MOFs, or π-conjugated organic frameworks
- Experience in green chemistry, flow chemistry, or high-throughput synthesis
- Familiarity with DFT or computational structure screening (in collaboration with modelers)
