OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Conducts experiments and maintains systems to develop chemical processes and products.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION – ENGINEERING:
- Conducts experiments in accordance with procedure and maintains records to develop complex, new and improved chemical manufacturing processes.
- Assists with design, documentation and formulation of complex chemical products such as synthetic rubber and thermoplastic compounds.
- Executes sampling, analysis and testing techniques used in the characterization of polymer products and precursor raw materials.
- Reviews data, observes and recommends measures for optimizing operations such as mixing, coating and heat transfer.
- Implements production and processing methods, documentation and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost-effective manner.
- Investigates and identifies solutions to work-in process problems.
- Implements improvements and/or modifications in materials, operations, equipment and other process related factors.
- Adopts, utilizes and maintains ISO 9000 procedures and documentation with attention to detail.
- Reviews variances in operational data and initiates troubleshooting for resolution.
- Works closely and communicates effectively with other engineering and functional areas to accomplish tasks.
- Executes any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Preferred – Associates Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
- Preferred – Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience with polymers.
- Preferred – Minimum 3 years analytical, testing and characterization techniques of polymers.
- Required – Read, Write and Comprehend English with strong communication skills.
- Required – Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Required – Associate Degree in Chemistry, Engineering Technology or related field.
