Who We Are

District of Columbia International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving over 1600 racially and economically diverse students in grades 6-12 from across the District of Columbia. Position Overview: DCI is hiring a full-time Athletic Specialist. The Athletic Specialist is responsible for assisting the Athletic Director in the overall management of the DC International School Athletic Program.

Salary Range: $38,588 - $44,100 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience)

Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in Sports Management, Communications, Marketing or similar field or this content area is preferred (Bachelor's Degree is required).
  • High school or college sport experience is preferred.
  • Physically fit and able to attend and actively engage with coaches, game officials and athletes indoor and outdoor year-round in the performance and effective management of the athletic program.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding interscholastic athletic programs, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility.
  • Ability to evaluate, develop and implement athletic programs, activities and events, and make effective recommendations related to those areas.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Key Qualities & Skills:

  • Assist Athletic Director with the development of competition schedules.
  • Assist MS/HS sports schedules including rescheduling games
  • Work with DC Scores regarding middle school soccer
  • Confirm scheduled games
  • Write and send all early dismissal emails to DCI staff including rosters, departure times and game location
  • Assist in confirming officials
  • Assist in confirming transportation
  • Assist in coordination of support personnel for all athletics contests including game management, security.
  • Create materials to publicize athletic and sport events, both in printed and electronic formats, to disseminate information and increase awareness.
  • Create materials and assist with facilitation of middle and high school sports interest meetings.
  • Assist in organizing the equipment room and conducting inventory of equipment and apparel.
  • Assist with correspondence with coaches, players, families and athletic directors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Check daily schedule
  • Send early dismissal emails as needed
  • Confirm middle and high school games with opponents, both home and away
  • Confirm officials for middle and high school home games
  • Confirm transportation for middle and high school away games
  • Help with gym and field set up as needed
  • Respond to and or delegate all athletic department email
  • Other duties as assigned
