This role will support the geospatial environment by acting as a liaison between the Geospatial Services team, other agencies, vendors, and subject matter experts.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Esri GIS server and desktop platforms, strong project management skills, and a proven ability to coordinate large, complex GIS projects—from requirements gathering and planning through deployment, integration, maintenance, and upgrades.

This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional capable of working in a hybrid environment while leading cross-functional teams and ensuring timely, high-quality GIS solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise GIS Coordination

  • Coordinate the implementation, deployment, and maintenance of Esri GIS server software, desktop applications, and enterprise geospatial services.
  • Serve as a key liaison between agencies, technical teams, and vendors.
  • Lead GIS initiatives across multiple agencies, ensuring alignment with enterprise geospatial standards and priorities.

Project Management

  • Lead, plan, and manage GIS projects of varying size and complexity, including enterprise upgrades, integrations, and multi-agency initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, scope, resource plans, and deliverables.
  • Ensure project milestones are met, risks are identified, and issues are escalated appropriately.
  • Coordinate regular project status meetings and provide clear communication to stakeholders.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide guidance, direction, and technical leadership in the deployment and upgrade of Esri server, portal, and desktop solutions.
  • Support integration efforts, data migrations, system testing, and performance optimization.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, system monitoring, and escalated technical issues.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Gather requirements, priorities, and input from GIS users across various agencies.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure GIS solutions meet functional, operational, and enterprise needs.
  • Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams to drive successful outcomes.

Operational Support

  • Assist with day-to-day operational tasks supporting enterprise geospatial services.
  • Participate in planning for ongoing upgrades, patching schedules, and long-term GIS platform roadmaps.
  • Ensure documentation, project records, and system inventories are up-to-date.

Top Skills & Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional GIS experience using Esri GIS software (ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, Portal/ArcGIS Online).
  • 3+ years of professional project management experience supporting geospatial systems, integrations, or enterprise GIS implementations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise GIS platforms, data management principles, and GIS system architecture.
  • Experience coordinating cross-agency or cross-department geospatial initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, planning, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Competencies (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with government or public-sector GIS environments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, project management methodologies, or Agile frameworks.
  • Knowledge of geospatial data standards, metadata, and enterprise GIS lifecycle management.
  • Experience with system integration, data automation, scripting, or ArcGIS extensions.
