Job Description

About the Firm
Van Horn & Friedman, P.C. is a boutique matrimonial and family law firm in Westbury, representing high-net-worth clients as they move toward a brighter future. Our close-knit team includes three attorneys and two legal assistants. We pride ourselves on a collegial environment where collaboration and enjoyable teamwork go hand in hand. Our attorneys approach each matter with enthusiasm and empathy, supporting clients as they rebuild both emotionally and financially after divorce.

We value balance. We maintain an excellent work-life culture with an attainable billable requirement (35 hours/week). Our trial load averages approximately four trials per year, as the vast majority of our cases settle successfully. A book of business is a plus, but not required. There is significant opportunity for long-term growth and succession planning.

Compensation is commensurate with experience, starting at $100,000+, with case-origination bonuses, year-end bonuses, a 401(k) match, and additional perks. No headhunters, please. Please submit a cover letter, writing sample, salary requirements, and résumé with your application.

Why Join Us

Leadership Path. Step into a future leadership role and gain experience in the business operations of a boutique firm—including financial oversight, personnel management, and strategic planning.
Meaningful Impact. Help shape the firm’s long-term direction while supporting both client outcomes and attorney well-being.
Strategic Growth. While this is not a rainmaker position, an attorney comfortable with light marketing, mentoring, and business development will find ample room to grow and make their mark.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of experience, strong courtroom capability (including first-chair experience), and a professional, confident style that builds trust with high-net-worth clients. You should be able to manage a matrimonial caseload independently and handle complex matters from inception through trial.
