Training & Education Coordinator
Position Summary
The Training & Education Coordinator supports the IEC Central Ohio Apprenticeship and Training Programs. This role oversees instructors, curriculum delivery, continuing education, workforce development, and safety training to ensure high-quality programs that meet the needs of IEC members and their employees. The training coordinator also manages training facilities, program operations, and community outreach.
The Training & Education Coordinator reports to the Executive Director; requires a flexible schedule, including some evenings and the occasional weekend.
Key Responsibilities
Apprenticeship Program Management
- Supervise and support instructors, ensuring curriculum is delivered consistently and effectively.
- Recruit, train, and develop instructors; coordinate continuing education.
- Counsel apprentices on attendance, academic issues, and program compliance.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director and Apprenticeship & Training Committee on program policies, enhancements, and strategic planning.
Continuing Education & Safety
- Plan and deliver safety and continuing education programs for apprentices, journeymen, and member employees.
- Collaborate with members to schedule customized training.
- Ensure labs & equipment are properly maintained and utilized.
Workforce Development & Outreach
- Represent IEC at informational sessions, career fairs, advisory boards, and community events.
- Support the New Worker Pre-Apprenticeship Program, including scheduling, instructor management, and employer feedback.
- Maintain relationships with schools, veterans’ groups, and community organizations to expand outreach and recruitment.
Facilities & Operations
- Oversee & coordinate training center maintenance and professional appearance.
- Manage inventory of lab materials, tools, and safety supplies; solicit donations and grants when possible.
Qualifications
- Experience in training, workforce development, or education (preferably in skilled trades or construction).
- Strong organizational, communication, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities.
