Job DescriptionHumCap's client, a manufacturing company in Garland, is searching for a Test Engineer.
As a Test Engineer you will support the testing environment for company products throughout the product life cycle.
Essential Functions
- Assist in writing test specifications for new products based on customer requirements and expected product capabilities.
- Specify test methods and maintain detailed test results.
- Perform hands-on testing; coordinate in-house and third-party testing as appropriate.
- Collaborate with design engineers to support testing during product development.
- Coordinate testing of initial production units with internal teams and third parties.
- Assist in the development of test procedures and equipment to support production.
- Maintain a comprehensive library of product test results and certifications to support the sales department with RFQs and bid responses; update the library as needed.
- Stay knowledgeable of product functionality and performance to provide technical support during customer demonstrations and agency testing.
- Stay current with regulatory requirements in countries where products are sold.
- Develop test methods to characterize the performance of competitive products for benchmarking and sales/marketing comparison.
- Perform regression testing on software and firmware releases.
- Train, mentor, and support test technicians.
- Ensure operations comply with relevant laws, guidelines, and ISO requirements.
- Follow all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe activities to management or Human Resources.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in test engineering or a closely related discipline.
Special Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience in systems testing and executing test programs.
- Ability to learn new products quickly and support test operation setup and launch.
- Solid understanding of test methodologies, tools, and relevant software.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and performance evaluation.
- Technical writing experience or training.
- Working knowledge of networking setup; familiarity with TCP/IP is a plus.
- Ability to comprehend technical and functional aspects of products to ensure clarity and precision.
- Strong ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Work Environment
- Indoor office and production environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and moderate noise.
- May work near moving mechanical equipment.
- Occasional travel, both domestic and international.
Physical Demands
Moderate physical activity required for day-to-day technical tasks.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and crouch.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds, with or without assistance.
