Powder Coating Systems is currently seeking to hire an experienced Powder Coater for our day shift.

Our day shift runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

We consider an experienced Powder Coater to be someone who has coated for 2-5 years minimum.

This person should know:

-How to identify the necessary powder for the job. (We use around twenty different brands.)

-How to ensure parts are prepared correctly. (Parts are usually prepped by our floor people.)

-How to apply coats evenly.

-How to figured out the correct oven time to melt and cure powder.

-What defects to look for on other coater's parts.


Our coaters are also responsible for:

-Using our in-house system to find orders. (This includes an Excel spreadsheet we use to schedule order of jobs as well as Steelhead software to find all the information on the job.)

-Record powder weights after job is completed.

-Clean out the booth between colors and at the end of the shift.

-Assist on the floor with preparations when necessary.


The best coater is self-motivated, driven to accomplish tasks and detail oriented.


Powder Coating Systems offers the following benefits for their employees in this position:

-Starting pay of $23-25 per hour.

-Paydays around the 1st and 15th of the month through direct deposit.

-Paid Time Off (PTO) that starts accruing the first day of employment and can be used after the first ninety days.

-6 paid holidays after the first ninety days of employment.

-2 unpaid holidays a year around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

-Dental, Life insurance, Accidental Death Insurance and a few others through our Benefit Administrator.

Note: We currently do not offer Medical Insurance unfortunately.

Requirements:

The following mandatory requirements must be on your resume to be considered for an interview. It is against company policy for us to rehire ex-employees who were let go under less than positive circumstances. We do perform reference checks on all applicants.

-2-5 years experience as a powder coater.

-Valid Driver's License (requirement to operate our forklifts.)

-Reliable transportation to commute to our shop in Tacoma on a daily basis. (Although Pierce Transit does have a stop nearby, they do not run consistently on a daily basis. Punctuality is expected on a daily basis.)

-The ability to comfortably lift 50 pounds. (The majority of our powder boxes are fifty pounds. We do employ hand trucks to move them through the shop, but they need to be lifted off the shelf and onto the machine.)

-Documentation to complete an I-9 within the first two days of employment. (Per Federal Law, we must see the original for the forms of identification used for this. We cannot accept copies. Normally, this includes documents that establishes identity and the ability to work in the United States.)

-The ability to read, communicate and understand English.


These requirements are not mandatory, but are extremely helpful in day-to-day activities:

-Experience operating a forklift.

-Understanding an Excel Spreadsheet.

-Handling and using a tablet.

-Knowledge of basic warehouse/shop protocols.
