OVERVIEW
Integrity Communications Solutions is seeking a motivated Engineer III - Payload Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to support our dynamic team. This role will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of payload systems for space, aerospace, and satellite missions. The ideal candidate will bring advanced technical expertise, critical thinking, and a passion for delivering complex payload systems that contribute to groundbreaking aerospace missions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and qualification of payload systems including scientific instruments, communication payloads, sensors, and other specialized components for aerospace and space systems.
- System Integration: Oversee the integration of payloads into the spacecraft or satellite platforms. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, and software engineers) to ensure seamless integration of payload systems.
- Testing and Validation: Develop and execute payload system test plans, including performance, environmental, and reliability tests. Ensure payload systems meet all technical requirements and mission objectives.
- Requirements Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to define and manage payload requirements, ensuring that technical specifications and constraints are met.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Provide support for the resolution of payload-related issues during development, integration, and operational phases. Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions.
- Mission Support: Provide engineering support during payload mission operations, including post-launch troubleshooting and operational support, ensuring payload systems perform as expected during mission lifetime.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on engineering best practices, design techniques, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation for all design, testing, and integration activities. Provide clear technical reports and presentations to stakeholders, including leadership and external customers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master's or PhD preferred).
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in payload engineering, preferably in aerospace, space, or defense industries.
- Must have an active Secret clearance.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering payload systems for space missions.
- Strong knowledge of spacecraft systems and payload design principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.) and engineering analysis tools.
- Hands-on experience with payload testing, including vibration, thermal, and electromagnetic testing.
- Understanding of spacecraft communications, power systems, and avionics integration.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, systems engineering certifications) are a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively work with interdisciplinary teams and present to leadership and clients.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with satellite payloads and payload integration.
- Familiarity with space industry standards and regulations (e.g., ECSS, NASA-STD).
- Experience with simulation tools and software modeling (MATLAB, Simulink, etc.).
- Experience with flight software and ground systems.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
