The Senior Contract Specialist will support federal contracts by managing the full contract lifecycle—from proposal development and contract negotiation to administration and closeout. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of federal acquisition regulations (FAR), exceptional communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position is critical to ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and supporting the operational success of the company’s federal programs.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Review, draft, and negotiate prime contracts, subcontracts, and modifications in accordance with FAR, and agency-specific supplements and guidelines
- Provide end-to-end contract administration, including modifications, renewals, closeouts, and compliance monitoring
- Coordinate with project managers, finance, legal, and executive leadership to align contract terms with project needs and company policies
- Prepare and submit contract deliverables and reports to government customers in accordance with contract requirements
- Interpret contract requirements and advise internal stakeholders on risk, compliance, and contract interpretation
- Support proposal development and pricing activities, including review of solicitations and ensuring responsiveness to RFPs/RFQs
- Serve as the point of contact for contractual matters with government customers and teaming partners
- Maintain contract files and ensure timely documentation of all contract actions in accordance with internal procedures and audit readiness standards
- Stay current on federal acquisition and agency-specific contracting regulations and guidance
Requirements:
Education & Experience
- 10+ years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, Public Administration, or a related field required
- Strong experience working within a government contracting environment
- DAWIA/FAC certification or equivalent required
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience reviewing and evaluating contract language. Ability to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Strong understanding of federal regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain contractual concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Negotiation skills and ability to maintain strong relationships.
- Collaborative team-player.
Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of MS 365 applications, contract lifecycle management systems, and financial contracting tools such as Deltek, Unanet, etc.
Work Schedule
Consistent, full-time work expected Monday – Friday, eight hours per day in a focused and fast-paced environment; an alternative work schedule may be permitted with approval.
