We seek a motivated paralegal to join our growing team and have an immediate positive impact. This full-time role involves managing a caseload, necessitating a commitment of 40 hours per week. We provide a competitive base salary, commensurate with qualifications, and bonus prospects.

Compensation:

$60,000 - $80,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

  • Manage various family law cases such as divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and adoption matters throughout the entire process.
  • Maintain and organize client files meticulously, ensuring all documents are current and easily accessible.
  • Keep track of important case deadlines, court dates, and key milestones during case timelines.
  • Draft and prepare a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, and discovery responses.
  • Assist in developing marital settlement agreements, parenting plans, and other family law agreements.
  • Prepare trial exhibits and arrange documents for hearings and trials.
  • Act as the main contact for clients, providing case updates and addressing inquiries.
  • Efficiently coordinate client meetings, consultations, and depositions.
  • Conduct legal research on family law matters, including state and federal regulations and case law.
  • Draft discovery requests, respond to discovery, and manage document production.
  • Support mediation sessions by preparing necessary documents and aiding in settlement negotiations.
  • Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including witness preparation and organizing trial materials.
  • Track billable hours, create client billing entries, and handle administrative tasks.
  • Maintain client confidentiality, handle sensitive information discreetly, and adhere to ethical guidelines in the legal profession.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate should have at least an Associate’s degree or certificate in paralegal studies from an ABA-accredited program, with a preference for those holding a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2-3 years of paralegal experience, specifically in family law, dealing with divorce, child custody, child support, and alimony cases, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis, and familiarity with case management software, are essential skills for this role.
  • A strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of e-filing systems and court procedures would be advantageous for the position.
  • A thorough understanding of family law statutes, regulations, and court procedures is a necessity.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a solid grasp of legal terminology, principles, and practices within family law.
  • Exceptional organizational skills are vital for efficient management of multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and case management are critical.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for professional interactions with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for handling emotional situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required for reviewing complex legal documents and case information.
  • The ability to conduct comprehensive legal research and provide clear, concise summaries is important.
  • Effective time management skills are necessary for prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • A proven track record of working independently with minimal supervision is preferred.
  • Upholding high ethical standards, including maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive client information, is mandatory.
  • Optional but preferred certifications include Paralegal certification (CP, CLA, or RP) and state-specific paralegal certification or licensing, if applicable.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment and willingness to learn and stay updated on changes in family law and legal procedures are highly valued.
  • Strong computer and technical skills.
