Job Title: Cutting Machine Operator

Job Description

As a Cutting Machine Operator Helper, you will be responsible for operating sheet-fed cutting equipment, performing make-readies, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs. You will ensure job setup is correct before feeding the press and maintain and lubricate press equipment. You will also inspect pallets, complete quality checklists, record time, material usage, and operate with inline embossing when required. Hand packing and other duties will be performed as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sheet-fed cutting equipment.
  • Perform make-readies, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs.
  • Verify job setup before feeding the press.
  • Maintain and lubricate press equipment.
  • Inspect pallets and complete quality checklists.
  • Record time and material.
  • Operate with inline embossing when required.
  • Perform hand packing as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in machine operation and operating cutting equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic, fractions, decimals, and interpreting bar graphs.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with hand jacks, electric pallet jacks, and forklifts preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Company-issued Fork Truck Operator’s License.

Work Environment

Work on a second shift from 6 PM to 6 AM, with 12-hour days currently. Training will occur during the day before moving to the third shift. Shifts are up to 12 hours Monday–Friday and 8 hours on Saturdays. You must be available for alternate schedules, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime. The role involves continuous standing, use of hands, and agility, with frequent climbing and walking. Occasional bending, squatting, crawling, reaching, twisting, and pushing/pulling up to 60 lbs will be required, along with the use of hand and electrical tools. The environment includes exposure to fluctuating temperatures, and personal protective equipment such as steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, and hair and beard nets are required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wayne, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
