Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Pay Range: Local: $36$41/hour | Travel: $1,300$1,450 weekly (equivalent to $46$50/hour)

Blazer Jobs is hiring licensed Orientation and Mobility Specialists (OMS) to support school districts in Tallahassee, FL. This full-time role is open to local candidates seeking consistent school-year placements as well as travel professionals looking for flexible contracts with competitive pay.

Position Overview:
Provide orientation and mobility instruction to K12 students with visual impairments, helping them develop safe, independent travel skills both on campus and in the community. Collaborate closely with special education teams, teachers, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and deliver orientation and mobility training to visually impaired students

  • Teach safe travel techniques in multiple environments

  • Collaborate with educators, families, and IEP teams to coordinate services

  • Recommend and provide training on mobility aids and assistive technology

  • Maintain accurate documentation of services and progress

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Orientation and Mobility or related field

  • Valid Florida OMS certification (or eligibility)

  • Previous school-based experience preferred

  • Must pass background and fingerprint clearance
