Job Summary
Renew Residential Services is seeking a compassionate and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide quality care and meaningful support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health-related challenges in their homes & communities. Essential Responsibilities
- Assist the clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Support clients during meals by preparing nutritious meals, assisting with eating as needed, and maintaining a clean dining environment
- Assist clients with mobility
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each residents needs, including developmental disabilities, behavior support plans, dementia care, Alzheimers care, autism support, and memory care strategies
- Implement behavior support strategies as trained and document accurately
- Administer medications in accordance with company policy and training
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment
- Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and laundry
- Document clients progress through detailed notes on patient observation, behavior changes, and care provided
- Communicate professionally with supervisors, team members, families, and external providers
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and safety concerns
- Uphold all company policies, ethical standards, and state regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to pass background checks and required screenings
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home & community care settings is preferred
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Experience with medication administration and care plan implementation is desirable
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts is essential
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with people with disabilities or age-related conditions such as dementia or Alzheimers disease
- Familiarity with working within HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
- Valid drivers license may be required for community outings or transportation assistance for full time day shift positions
- A caring attitude combined with patience, flexibility, and excellent communication skills
