Job Summary:

  • Operate and monitor chemical processing equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify any issues or maintenance needs.
  • All operators are expected to work as a team and use consensus decision making to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records of production data, including batch numbers, quantities, and quality control measures.
  • Follow established procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling chemical products.
  • Collaborate with team members to implement lean manufacturing practices for improved efficiency.
  • Read and act upon daily area operating instructions. Provide feedback to supervision on operational issues, related to process conditions, improvement ideas, operational instructions, etc.
  • Provide shift change relief. Conduct hourly (minimal requirement) tours of manufacturing area to ensure good operating condition of all equipment. Identify and resolve mechanical and/or process-related issues.
  • Check levels, temperatures, pressures etc. Communicate findings to supervision. Collect and analyze process samples. Record results on prescribed schedule.
  • Assist in materials handling, including the safe transport of chemicals within the facility.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and SOP guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills related to machining, fabrication, and forklift operation.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Job duties occur both inside and outside. There is exposure to extreme temperatures, moisture, humidity, and loud noises
  • Gases, dust, odors, fumes, and mists associated with normal chemical plant operation may be present
  • In production areas employees must wear company supplied protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses, respirator, gloves, slickers, and boots

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Process Technology degree or certification
  • 2-3 years' experience working with machinery, mechanical and chemical processes
  • No fear of heights or confined spaces
  • Experience with materials handling techniques and safety practices.
  • Proficient computer skills, the ability to use process control software and enter data
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality throughout all operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in chemistry or related field
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Certified forklift operator
  • 3-5 years' experience as a process/chemical operator
  • Pipefitting experience
  • Experience in instrumentation & industrial electrical components
