Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position is for a Special Education Teacher specializing in Middle School Math for grades 6-8. The role focuses on supporting students who face challenges with math concepts and aligning instruction with core standards. This is a full-time, contract assignment running from July 30th, 2025, through May 21st, 2026, with a 35-hour workweek.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated math instruction to middle school students with special education needs.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student learning goals.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and aligned curriculum access.
- Utilize assessment data to identify areas requiring additional support and intervention.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate with families and staff on student progress.
Qualifications:
- Current New Mexico Special Education (SPED) Certification.
- Math Endorsement certification valid in New Mexico.
- Experience working with middle school students, preferably in a special education setting.
- Strong understanding of math core standards and interventions to support struggling learners.
- Ability to work effectively in both regular and special education classrooms.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
