We provide competitive compensation and benefits.We are looking to hire a Production Planning/Scheduling Manager at our Giddings, TX location.Summary:The Production Planner is responsible for the live goods scheduling, sourcing and maintenance of crop records to support the achievement of our weekly sales and production plan goals. Key responsibilities include maintaining master data, scheduling crop records, purchasing live good inputs and analyzing system data all with a high degree of accuracy. Individuals with a genuine love for plants, analytical in natural and have a high attention to detail will excel in this role.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule crops against sales plan, ensuring proper crop times, plant inputs, pots, labels and coordination with the grower team.
- Engage production and sales teams to improve varietal selection, optimize production efficiency and ensure sell through of products meets expectations.
- Monitor crop production times in coordination with production teams and adjust as requested.
- Maintain relevant master data such as weeks to finish, plants per pot, source sizes, vendor/shipper sources and other data necessary to scheduling of live goods.
- Ensure accurate planting list creation and troubleshoot system data discrepancies Support Receiving and Production Coordinators with PO receiving
- Source live goods inputs including cuttings, liners and seed as required and generate accurate, timely purchase orders.
- Align with corporate purchasing strategies and agreements
- Process and communicate quality claims or fulfillment issues with corporate buyer and our internal/external partners and brokers.
- Create and analyze existing variance reports to help identify and address variances between scheduled crops, on hand forecasted inventory and the production plans by warehouse.
- Generate Excel reports forecasting production demands
- Additional projects and responsibilities as needed to support the execution of the production plan
Education and Experience: A four year degree in Horticulture preferred. Five to eight years growing or working with annuals, perennials, shrubs or specialty crops.Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer experience with emphasis on Excel, Word and database applications.
- Analytical with high attention to detail.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Ability to respectfully communicate with diverse staff.
- Flexibility & willingness to learn in a dynamic fast paced work environment.
- An understanding of ornamental crops and general production cycles preferred
