Job Description

Job DescriptionA day shaping precision machinery

Step into a build bay where mechanical detail drawings guide your morning. You’ll translate prints and reference photos into assembled subassemblies—installing precision bearings, fitting machine tooling, and applying proven assembly techniques for high‑accuracy equipment. By midday, you’re aligning ways, spindles, and tooling, then moving into startup procedures to bring a new machine to life. In the afternoon, you might tear down a unit to clean, inspect, and pinpoint worn or broken components, or support internal and customer run‑offs by troubleshooting until performance meets spec.

Throughout the day, you’ll keep meticulous records—capturing updates and red‑lining mechanical drawings—while coordinating with fellow builders, suppliers, and customers. About a quarter of your time, you’ll be on the road to customer sites to install equipment, commission systems, train operators, and provide service.

What you’ll do

  • Assemble machinery from mechanical design drawings and reference images.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and identify worn/broken parts for remediation.
  • Use established mechanical practices to build precision machinery.
  • Build subassemblies that incorporate precision bearings.
  • Assemble machine tooling and related components.
  • Align machinery and tooling; execute machine startup procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and support internal and customer machine run‑offs.
  • Maintain accurate records, including red‑lined mechanical drawings.
  • Collaborate closely with teammates, suppliers, and customers.
  • Travel to customer facilities for installs, startups, training, and service (approximately 25%).

What you’ll bring

  • 2–5 years of relevant machine build or service experience.
  • Bonus: exposure to Vertical Turning Lathes (e.g., EMAG, Famar, Okuma).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with solid problem‑solving ability.
  • Fluency reading mechanical detail and assembly drawings.
  • Hands‑on experience with precision metrology: calipers, micrometers, dial indicators.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.
  • Team‑oriented mindset and strong collaboration skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication in one‑on‑one and group settings.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Personal toolbox with standard hand tools and small power tools for assembly; unique job‑specific tools provided as needed.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours, when necessary, to meet project deadlines and customer needs.
