Job DescriptionDescriptionAs a Sr. Soft Goods Engineer at Impulse Space you will develop and manufacture state-of-the-art soft goods and multi-layer insulation (MLI) builds for current & future vehicles. You will work with cross-discipline engineering teams & outside vendors to deliver flight hardware.
Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing processes to fabricate parts with MLI’s and spacecraft textile products
- Own process development, build, test, and integration for both flight and development hardware
- Generate soft goods manufacturing standards, work instructions, and process specifications
- Tooling design for part fabrication, shop aids, and assembly
- Work directly with technicians to produce high-quality hardware
- Work directly with outside vendors
- Spec, purchase, and implement equipment to aid in part fabrication
- Develop and implement shop floor layouts to establish new production cells
- Engage in development projects to test feasibility of new part designs
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar field
- 5+ years of direct hands-on manufacturing experience in a production and/or development environment
- 2+ years of direct hands-on experience with part fabrication utilizing MLI’s and soft goods
- Proficiency with CAD software and the ability to learn new tools
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Masters' degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar field
- 5+ years of direct hands-on experience with part fabrication utilizing MLI’s and soft goods
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience working on soft good for launch vehicles, spacecraft, or satellites
- Develops creative design solutions to complex problems
- Ability to work with complex assemblies
- Experience with Siemens NX
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
- Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere
Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
