CPI is hiring a Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering to lead mechanical and structural solutions for advanced SATCOM systems in our Plano, TX office. This high-impact role blends technical depth with strategic leadership, guiding a team through full lifecycle product development in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate brings expertise in structural, thermal, and vibration engineering, with a strong track record of innovation, design integrity, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll serve as the technical authority across programs, translating customer requirements into actionable solutions and driving results from concept to completion. Eligibility for DoD TS/SCI clearance is required; active clearance strongly preferred. U.S. citizenship is required.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical and structural engineers across local and remote locations
• Serve as the technical authority for active programs, collaborating with program management, operations, and other engineering disciplines
• Lead large, complex engineering programs by applying deep technical expertise and strategic leadership
• Oversee project planning, budgeting, and scheduling; develop mechanisms to monitor progress and collaborate with project managers, production managers, and quality personnel to resolve issues
• Interpret customer-provided statements of work and requirements, and develop engineering methodologies to ensure successful execution and compliance
• Drive continuous process improvement and ensure design quality, efficiency, and compliance
• Identify and mitigate technical and organizational risks across projects
• Provide strategic input for bids and proposals, including materials, effort estimates, and requirement validation
• Develop cross-project strategies to improve performance metrics and delivery outcomes
• Conduct performance reviews, support career development, and build a resilient, high-performing team

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

• Must be a US citizen; permanent residence and visa sponsorship will not be considered
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance; current clearance holders preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 10+ years of engineering experience, including direct leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams; SATCOM domain expertise strongly preferred
• Comprehensive mechanical engineering background spanning structural, thermal, and vibration disciplines, with proficiency in corresponding analytical methods and tools
• Proven success in managing complex projects and cross-functional collaboration
• Expertise in SolidWorks and AutoCAD (required); familiarity with Ansys and MathCAD (preferred)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• High attention to detail and ability to deliver under pressure
