A mid-sized defense litigation firm is seeking an associate attorney to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis in their Oakland Office. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex civil litigation cases in a collaborative and detail-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will bring experience in defense litigation and a strong ability to manage cases from inception to resolution.
Responsibilities:
• Handle civil litigation cases with a focus on defense, including business disputes, asbestos claims, and general civil matters.
• Manage cases effectively, ensuring timely progress and resolution.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, and other legal documents to support case strategy.
• Conduct thorough discovery processes, including collecting and analyzing evidence.
• Perform comprehensive legal research to support case arguments and prepare for trial.
• Assist in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, drafting trial briefs, and coordinating witness testimony.
• Collaborate with clients and team members to ensure clear communication and effective representation.
• Provide strategic advice to clients regarding case developments and legal options.
• Maintain compliance with all ethical and procedural standards while representing clients.
• Must be a licensed attorney in good standing.
• At least 1 year of experience in civil litigation.
• Proficiency in drafting motions, pleadings, and conducting discovery.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with trial preparation, including briefing and evidence organization.
• Excellent case management and organizational abilities.
• Effective communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues.
