Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking a full-time Associate Biologist to join our Natural Resources Team in the greater Sacramento, California area. The Associate Biologist will work remotely and travel to project locations for fieldwork throughout the United States, with work centered in Northern California. Travel includes both driving and/or flying as well as overnight stays. This position may require access to restricted sites and would need to pass a background check and have credentials such as a Real ID-compliant identification. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in natural resources (wildlife sciences, biology, zoology, botany, etc.) with solid knowledge of species and habitats of Northern California. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, USFWS 10(a)1(a) permit(s), and the completion of wetland delineation training.
The Associate Biologist is expected to support and lead field surveys including, but not limited to, habitat assessments and presence/absence surveys for listed species, wetland delineations, and invasive species surveys. Species surveyed varies from birds and mammals to insects and mussels with both diurnal and nocturnal field efforts required. Fieldwork duration ranges from one day to twelve days on average. Additionally, the Associate Biologist will support development of survey reports, management plans, and other project deliverables.
Fieldwork tasks include physical exertion such as walking or climbing over wet, rough, uneven, and/or rocky surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, or reaching to observe, collect, and/or record field data. Some surveys require hiking several miles in a day, working in and around water, and accessing caves or other challenging topography, and will occasionally be in remote areas.
The Associate Biologist will:
- Perform field tasks within scope, budget, and schedule expectations

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in natural resources (wildlife sciences, biology, zoology, botany, etc.); Master's degree preferred
- Willing to travel (including overnight stays) at least 25% of the time
- At least 5 years of professional experience supporting and leading field surveys
- USFWS 10(a)1(a) permit(s)
- Successful completion of wetland delineation training
- Reside within approximately 150 miles of Sacramento
- Ability to work outdoors in hot temperatures for long durations of time
- Valid driver's license
The salary range for this position is $75,000-$78,000, commensurate with experience, and bonuses are offered for exceptional performance.
