Briefing Attorney, Houston, Salary: $140-160k
Fallen out of love with the adversarial parts of litigation but love research and writing?
A leading Houston defense firm is looking for a Briefing Attorney to support their trial team.
No client management. No depositions. No trials.
Just research, drafting, writing, and case strategy.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research to inform motion practice and overall litigation strategy.
- Draft and respond to a wide range of motions and briefs across multiple jurisdictions, including oppositions to motions to dismiss, motions to compel discovery, affirmative and responsive summary judgment motions, motions in limine, and other pretrial, trial, post-trial, and appellate filings.
- Evaluate the strength and viability of legal arguments in briefs and related submissions, with a particular focus on talc-related issues.
- Review and analyze complex case files including medical records, expert reports, and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with trial counsel, case managers, and the broader litigation team to ensure legal positions are accurate, consistent, and aligned with evolving developments in the litigation.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Experience in litigation defense, ideally general liability.
- Exceptional legal writing and research skills.
