HRIS Workday Systems Analyst
Location: Germantown, MD (Onsite, Monday–Friday)
Contract: 6+ months, with potential extension

Position Overview

A company in Germantown is seeking an experienced HRIS Workday Systems Analyst to provide temporary on-site support for at least six months. This role supports Workday system configuration, troubleshooting, reporting, and enhancements across multiple HR functions. The ideal candidate has strong functional Workday expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with HR, IT, Payroll, and other business stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the functional Workday expert for ongoing initiatives across multiple modules
  • Design, test, and implement updates to Workday business processes, workflows, and security roles
  • Participate in requirements gathering, documentation, fit/gap analysis, proof-of-concept builds, and UAT
  • Recommend and deploy configuration improvements aligned with best practices and compliance needs
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system configuration and functional issues
  • Deliver training, knowledge transfer, job aids, and documentation to HR and technical users
  • Collaborate with IT and Payroll to resolve system issues affecting HR transactions and payroll processing
  • Validate and reconcile data between Workday and SAP during bi-weekly payroll cycles
  • Ensure accurate, compliant processing of employee data and maintain data integrity
  • Create, update, and maintain Workday reports, dashboards, and analytics for HR functions
  • Utilize reporting tools and Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) to support audits and decision-making
  • Support Workday system maintenance, patch testing, weekly releases, and biannual upgrades
  • Monitor day-to-day system performance and resolve user-reported issues via case/ticketing systems
  • Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for HR end-users and super users
  • Stay informed on new Workday features and evaluate applicability to business needs
  • Act as liaison among HR, IT, business stakeholders, and external vendors
  • Provide timely updates and manage expectations with internal/external partners
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives to improve HRIS functionality and user experience


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred: Information Systems, IT, or related field)
  • 3+ years of HRIS experience
  • Prior experience with Workday, including HCM, Benefits & Compensation, and Talent/Performance
  • Strong ability to manage system issues, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday implementations
  • Experience with SAP HR/Payroll systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience with data integrity, reporting, and system controls
  • Broad knowledge of HR, Compensation, and Benefits
  • Ability to follow through quickly on deliverables and project requirements
  • Strong understanding of Workday HCM (Core HR, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll)
  • Experience with system testing, troubleshooting, and data validation
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective Workday solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Workday integrations or integration teams is a plus
