We are looking for a dedicated Legal Assistant to join a government entity in Atlanta, Georgia. This role involves providing specialized administrative support to the Municipal Court and ensuring the efficient processing of legal matters and documentation. Responsibilities:
• Process and manage legal documents and records associated with court cases.
• Input and organize case data using specialized software and systems.
• Conduct record searches and retrieve files as needed.
• Prepare, distribute, and manage legal notices, subpoenas, fines, and related correspondence.
• Handle payments, fees, and fines, ensuring accurate entry into the system.
• Coordinate and assign cases while generating detailed reports.
• Review and update court calendars, including scheduling translator assignments.
• Testify in court proceedings when required.
• Provide customer service to law enforcement officers, other courts, external agencies, and the public.
• Explain court procedures to participants and advise them on their rights.
• Associate or technical degree in a relevant field.
• At least one year of experience in a court system, law enforcement, or corrections.
• Proficiency in calendar management, court filings, data entry, and legal research.
• A valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
• Eligibility for affirmation as a sworn Deputy Clerk of the Court (can be completed upon confirmation).
