Job Description

We are excited to be partnering with a well-established law firm in the Southwest Metro area that is seeking an experienced (4-7+ year) Family Law Paralegal to join its growing team!

This position offers the flexibility to work primarily remote following an initial in-office training period. It's a great fit for someone who is confident managing a caseload independently and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prepare legal documents (pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery, settlement agreements).
  • Manage case files and track deadlines to ensure compliance with court procedures.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and answer questions.
  • Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, and third parties to schedule legal proceedings.
  • Prepare materials for hearings and trials, including exhibits and trial binders.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client information.
  • Track and record billable time accurately.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-7+ years of experience working exclusively in family law as a paralegal required.
  • In-depth knowledge of Minnesota family law statutes, court rules, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple active cases and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with a professional and compassionate approach to client interaction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document/case management systems.
  • Experience with Minnesota court e-filing systems.
  • Must be familiar with discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, issuing subpoenas, and organizing/documenting responsive materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Paralegal certificate or degree from an accredited program (preferred but not required).

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with legal practice management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, or similar platforms).
  • Prior experience in guardianship or contested estate matters is a plus.
  • Notary Public certification is a bonus.

Benefits offered:

  • Health insurance - 100% paid monthly premiums for employees.
  • HSA
  • 401k (with match)
  • PTO
  • Paid holidays
