Now Hiring: Senior Traffic Engineer

Our client is a multimodal transportation planning and engineering consultancy and they are currently seeking out a Senior Traffic Engineer to join their vibrant Fairfax, VA office.

The Senior Traffic Engineer will collaborate with team members on a diverse blend of projects, with an emphasis on technical mentorship.

Essential Responsibilities

The Senior Traffic Engineer will oversee the technical activities for projects of all scales, with an emphasis on the most intricate and complex projects. They will mentor and share technical expertise with team members and be responsible for their ongoing growth and development in technical areas. Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the completion of the following: transportation and traffic studies, parking studies, parking signal designs, speed studies, traffic control plans, transportation modeling, and transportation demand management (TDM) plans.
  • Oversee the completion of analyses using Vistro, Sidra, Synchro, and SimTraffic.
  • Guide the completion of Transportation Analysis Studies and Transportation Demand Management Plans (TDMs).
  • Oversight on project organization, budget, schedule, scope, and client communication.
  • Analyze data to recommend transportation systems improvements or projects, based on economic, population, land use, or traffic.
  • Create presence and leadership in transportation & traffic services through involvement in civic, political, professional, and business organizations.
  • Knowledge of Northern Virginia jurisdictions.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination strategies on assigned projects between external project participants.
  • Act as the final stamp of approval for technical documentation for projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent in relevant work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience.
  • In possession of Professional Engineer (PE) and PTOE preferred.
  • Expertise in the ability to train others in transportation planning and documentation.
  • Passion for collaboration throughout the development and execution of projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
