JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer is responsible for performing engineering assignments with clear and specific objectives to support the on-time development and delivery of components and services to D&G customers within budget. The Project Engineer is responsible for transferring product assembly and test knowledge from D&G to the customers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Establishes the operations required for pre-machining, fabrication, final machining, and assembly of complex products from customer part drawings, specifications, and other engineering data.
- Determines sequence of operations, materials needed and estimates of time required for each operation and prepares process sheets required to manufacture product.
- Prepares necessary drawings using CAD software, specifications and procedures as required to support product production.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
- Specifies fixture and work cell layouts, develops supporting procedures, performs manufacturability analysis, and provides technical support to the production floor.
- Estimates costs, researches materials for projects, and executes purchase orders.
- Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of design or applications.
- Analyzes, develops, and recommends design approaches necessary to meet production requirements, design improvements and cost reductions for new and existing products.
- Recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
- Investigates equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and recommends remedial actions.
Requirements:
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1 to 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to manage complex projects within budget and time constraints
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing), listen, assess and problem solve with the customer, vendor, administration, and staff
- Ability to gather and analyze information and apply sound judgement in arriving at appropriate conclusions and determining project priorities
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, establish priorities, and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community
- Solidworks CAD experience preferred
- Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in the manufacturing office environment at the Main Plant located in Westbrook, Maine. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasionally, this role uses standard production equipment such as power tools and other mechanic hand tools. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
