Electrical Engineer Intern

Preferred majors: Electrical Engineering (primary); Mechanical Engineering

Location: Dresden, NY

Role summary

Join our Operations team to support our live datacenter and power environments, everything from single-line diagrams and load studies to containerized mining layouts and airflow/thermal analysis. Expect to work on real drawings and calculations for our natural gas power facility in Dresden, NY.

What you'll do

• Produce and revise CAD drawing packages (site plans, one-lines, panel schedules and more).
• Assist on basic load and short-circuit/coordination studies.
• Participate in design reviews.
• Draft install & commissioning procedures; compile BOMs
• Potential to coordinate with vendors and contractors.
• Instrumentation/monitoring support (meters, sensors); help analyze runtime data to improve uptime.

Minimum qualifications

• Must be currently in a Bachelor or Master's program for Electrical Engineering or similar.
• Coursework in power systems and protection.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD (or SolidWorks/Inventor) and basic engineering calculations.
• Comfortable working in industrial environments, including spaces that have hot temperatures, cold temperatures, heights and loud noise.
  • Must go through safety training.
• Exposure to Microsoft Suite applications, including Excel and Word.

Nice to have

• Thermal/CFD interest; PLC/SCADA experience.
  • Experience with AutomationDirect PLCs is a plus.
• Knowledge of ModBus protocol.
• Industrial, electrical and/or mechanical experience.
